The Roland D-5 is a multi-timbral digital waveform linear synthesizer. Sounds (tones) are made from up to 4 partials that are created from either: 2 PCM waveforms, 2 digital waveforms, or 1 of each. It has 13 available routing structures for its partials, 8 of which include a ring modulator. It also features one note chord play and a key chase which is basically a note repeat that emulates a digital delay. The D-5 is similar to the D-10 and D-20 but without effects and an on-board sequencer. The D-5 was first released in 1989 by
Roland Corporation of Japan.
